Hochzeitsfeier mit Hollywood-Legenden
Für das TREND MAGAZIN berichtet BARBARA WILDER regelmässig aus der Filmmetropole Los Angeles. Exklusiv gewährt sie uns diesemal einen Einblick in einen High-Society-Anlass der ganz besonderen Art.
Es war ein heisser Sonntagnachmittag im wunderschönen Stadtteil Bel Air in Los Angeles. Hoch oben über der Stadt findet man die Villa von PRINZ FREDERIC und ZSA ZSA GABOR. Achtzig Gäste hatte er zur Silberhochzeitsfeier geladen, und ich hatte das Vergnügen, als einer von diesen über den roten Teppich zu laufen. Die Promidichte war entsprechend hoch. Da waren z.B. QUINCY JONES, u.a. bekannt als Produzent von MICHAEL JACKSON, die US-Komikerin und Schauspieler-Legende PHYLLIS DILLER, und SYLVESTER STALLONEs Mutter JACKIE mit SLYs Bruder FRANK.
Ich hielt mich mit meinen Interviews noch zurück und flüchtete lieber ins gut gekühlte Haus. Damit entkam ich zwar der unbeschreiblichen Hitze, nicht aber dem Tumult der zahlreichen in- und ausländischen Medienvertreter. PRINZ FREDERIC stand im Fokus der Aufmerksamkeit und es gab nur wenige Minuten, in denen man ihn ohne Kameras antraf. Er erwies sich dennoch als guter Gastgeber und liess Gulasch mit Nudeln nach Art der ungarischen Heimat seiner Frau servieren. Standesgemäss gab es dazu noch jede Menge Champagner. Im Interview mit dem ZDF gab PHYLLIS DILLER zu verstehen, dass sie nicht wüsste, wie man Gulasch kocht. Als Kennerin war es mir deshalb ein Vergnügen, es ihr persönlich zu erklären. Während man zahlreiche Bilder, die ZSA ZSAs Leben widerspiegelten, in den beeindruckenden, von Geschichte geprägten Räumen bestaunen konnte, sorgte ein Pianospieler für die richtige Stimmung.
Der Höhepunkt der Feier war das Anschneiden der dreistöckigen Buttercremetorte. «Das erste Stück ist selbstverständlich für meine Gattin», verkündete der Prinz und verschwand ins Schlafgemach, in dem die angeschlagene Filmdiva, abgeschirmt von den Gästen, die Feierlichkeiten auf dem Bildschirm mitverfolgte. Nur die engsten Freunde durften ihre Glückwünsche persönlich überbringen. «Sie trägt ihr rosa Kleid und sieht heute zehn Jahre jünger aus», schwärmte PRINZ FREDERIC, als wäre er wieder in den Flitterwochen. Als sich die meisten Pressevertreter bereits zurückgezogen hatten, wurde es noch musikalisch. US-Schauspieler ROBERT BLAKE liess es sich nicht nehmen, ein paar Lieder mit US-Schauspielerin ELAINE DUPONT zum Besten zu geben. Die neunjährige LELA BROWN («2010 Top Child Model of the Year») rappte dann noch für QUINCY JONES. Ich bin mir jedoch nicht sicher, ob sich die junge Dame des Privilegs, vor solchen Grössen performen zu dürfen, bewusst war. Die Gäste, unter anderem übrigens auch TV-Stars wie die Catwoman-Darstellerin aus der alten «Batman»-Serie JULIE NEWMAR, und der aus «Reich und Schön» bekannte RONN MOSS zeigten sich jedenfalls bestens unterhalten. Am Tisch neben mir sass die 40er-Jahre-Ikone FRANCES DAVIS, die erste Frau von MILES DAVIS, und eine der ersten afroamerikanischen Ballerinas überhaupt. Charmant und witzig erzählte sie mir Geschichten aus den alten Zeiten. Es war eine Ehre, mit so vielen Hollywood-Legenden zu feiern, und ich hoffe, dass ZSA ZSA GABOR und PRINZ FREDERIC noch viele gemeinsame Ehejahre geniessen dürfen.

For the TREND MAGAZINE BARBARA WILDER reports regularly from the movie industry’s capital Los Angeles. This time it gives us an exclusive insight into a high-society event of a special kind.
It was a hot Sunday afternoon in the beautiful district of Bel Air in Los Angeles. High abovetown, the villa of PRINCE FREDERIC and ZSA ZSA GABOR. Eighty guests were invited to the silver wedding celebration, and I had the pleasure to be one of those run down the red carpet. The number of celebrities attending was high. There was QUINCY JONES, among other things known as producer of Michael Jackson, PHYLLIS DILLER , the comedian, actor and US-legend, and Sylvester Stallone's mother Jackie with Sly's brother Frank.
I hold back my Interview questions at first and flee out of the burning sun into the well-chilled mansion. Like that I was able to escape the indescribable heat, but not the turmoil of numerous domestic and foreign media representatives. PRINCE FREDERIC was the focus of attention and there were only a few minutes in which he got a rest from the cameras. He evertheless proved a good host and had stew with noodles served, in honour of the Hungarian homeland of his wife accompanied in true Hollywood style, with plenty of champagne. In an interview with ZDF PHYLLIS DILLER mentioned that she does not know how to cook Goulash. As an expert it was a pleasure for me to explain it to her personally. While the crowd was looking at the many images of ZSA ZSAs life hanging from the walls of the impressive spaces marked by history, a piano player was creating the perfect soundtrack for people to get in the mood. The highlight of the celebration was the cutting of the three-storey butter cream cake. "The first piece is of course for my wife," declared the prince, and disappeared into the bedroom in which the troubled film star, shielded from the guests, watched the festivities on the screen. Only the closest friends were allowed to bring their best wishes in person. "She is wearing her pink dress and looks ten years younger today," enthused PRINCE FREDERIC, as if he had just returned from their honeymoon. After most members of the press were gone, the celebration continued musically. U.S. actor Robert Blake could not resist singing a few songs with U.S. actress Elaine Dupont. Also lovely, the nine-year LELA BROWN ("2010 Best Child Model of the Year") rapping for QUINCY JONES.
I'm not sure if the young lady was aware of her privilege, to perform for one of the biggest names in the industry. The guests, among others, TV stars like the Catwoman actress from the old "Batman" series JULIE NEWMAR, and the well-known RONN MOSS from "The bold and the Beautiful" seemed well entertained. At the table next to me sat the '40s icon FRANCES DAVIS, first wife of MILES DAVIS and one of the first African-American ballerinas. Charming and witty, she told me stories of old times. It was an honor to celebrate with so many Hollywood legends, and I hope that ZSA ZSA GABOR and PRINCE FREDERIC may enjoy many more years of marriage together.
